Ulduar 10 6th July
Sucessful run, after one wipe on trash and one wipe on the boss we doused Flame Leviathan's flames like true firefighters.

Attendees: Purewarlock, Corenne, Lukcos, Ashto, Adderth, Signius, Discontinued, Eyelight, Hedhunta, Childofwar.
Hopefully we'll get him in one next time, and have time to progress to the next boss.

Happy WoWing.

I'm glad the run was successful.
Anywho I'm sorry I just disapeared, my wireless crashed and my brother didn't get it to work again until this morning. =/

Re: Ulduar 10 6th July

joy, we're progressing

Good job everyone.

Here's a suggestion: what about dedicating one saturday  in the future to take a more indepth look into Ulduar? Or isnt our gear up to scratch yet to tackle bosses other than Flame?

First: No wipe on trash. :D I was still alive. :D
Second: Yea Mugul we still lacking some gear on some classes be4 we can venture further into Ulduar. Imo we prob could handle Razorscale (with alots of practice) and XT (with alitle less practice) But it all depends on who want to join. Personaly i dont think we will be able to go very far past the first boss unless we get the cream of the cream with the strawberry.

Re: Ulduar 10 6th July
Yes...regarding Mugul's suggestion...I was (still am?) a little put out that Ulduar wasn't put on the calendar. I understand it is just 'experimentation' or whatever, but EoE was (is?) a progression run and that gets calendar time. If people running with green items (like last night) could take the 1st boss, maybe the people who regularly do Naxx could help us get a little further? It's almost impossible for me, when working, to attempt to raid during the week, especially at short notice. Just a thought.

Also, Sig mentioned yesterday the need to have somewhere who's been there before run it (I may be wrong, but that is what I understood). Whilst it certainly must help to have someone who's been there before to lead it, we could read up on it and just see how we go, without the need for an Ulduar 'expert'. Or do we all have to Pug to 'know' about Ulduar before we run with guild?

Maybe I am just being difficult (am a little stressed with work at the moment) I don't know.

Also it would nice, after four months (ish) of completely  ignoring my boyfriend/family/friends every Saturday night to help with Naxx, if I could be acknowledged as a raider. I know I don't have to raid...am just suggesting it might be nice :)

Re: Ulduar 10 6th July

As I recall, Eill, Sig mentioned a couple of weeks ago, that Ulduar would be attempted during random weeknights (probably around 21:00 ST) if there's enough people online. Flame isnt about gear, as it's  being thought in "cars". I think it would be more frustrating if we had a weeknight allocated to Flame and not enough people showing up and it being cancelled due to that. Maybe in the future Flame will be replacing nasty, nasty, did I say it's nasty?, EoE :) One can dream.

As for the Raider status, I'm all for it. You've been wonderful, even chipping in to help out while suffering from too much wine from the night before :) That is dedication

ps. dont let the work get to you, Eill

awww ...   /hugs Mugul. I feel better now (and a bit silly for moaning).

Yeah, I do actually remember the random 'Ulduar' thing in the week, come to mention it... My problem wasn't really about getting gear (although that's always nice), I just seem to need way more practise then others, so a headstart would be good for me  :P But it doesn't matter really.

Anyway, I was just being a bit moody. Tbh probably shouldn't be let near Ulduar until I've watched Tankspot 100 times   ;)

Re: Ulduar 10 6th July
Many fights in Ulduar are best learned from experience, not from watching other people do it or reading tactics, though it does help.
It was, as people have said, just me gathering anyone online (as there were 15 80's) for a little looksee as to how we could do, so i'm sorry if anyone felt left out.
No one knew about it, it was a complete spur of the moment thing to decide to go.
If we feel enough BoL raiders have enough patience to wipe many, many times on bosses until we finally find our stride, then you could think about scheduling a run.
We CAN'T have people who will join and then need to walk their dog half way through or something (example), which is what we occasionally, very occasionaly, get at the moment.
After seeing a bit of end game progression myself in the past few months, i realise the comitment it takes from the majority of guild members to get anywhere in raids such as Ulduar, and i admit to having some of these problems.
E.G. Not giving up after 4 wipes - It took us 17 overall wipes to get one boss down over the course of two weeks, but we finally did it and the next week it only took 5.
BoL is not a hardcore guild, but everyone seems pretty keen on progression at the moment, and i'm not sure how many players don't realise how much comitment it really does take.
One full night raiding on one boss? Sometimes that's what it takes.

Sig and Eil are right. Of course it is best to have someone in the raid who has experienced it before, but we're not suggesting everyone has to have done the boss in a PuG before they can attend a BoL run. It's just that reading sometimes isn't enough and a little bit of experience can smooth out those bumps.
I have to say, i think only two people in last nights raid had completed that boss before, and the other 8 people did swell for their first time.
Shows that as long as people focus and remember their parts, things can be achieved with only a little learning.

Re: Ulduar 10 6th July
Guess i should add something. I was acculy supriced that we only needed 2 attempts on Flame Leviathan.
Even tho the fight in itself isnt very hard we lacked a few things, beeing but not limited to.

Experience, more always makes it easier no matter what.
Knowlege, linked with Experience but can also be gained thru reading. Not many ppl knew howto handle there vehicles.
Gear, even tho this fight isnt at all as gear dependent as any other fight it still gives that litle extra.

I didnt intended the list to be in any priority but now when i look at it its more or less how i see it.
Nothing beats Experience,
Knowlege is something we all gain in 1 way or another (some read up on new encounters and some dont) and
Gear, something we all get (when we are lucky) as we run our raids.

It has however been written in the guild note, when you log in, that we will be attempting Ulduar in the week and to expect random invites.

As for the rank, I agree. In fact, I think we should promote all our "regular raiders" and leave the new people in the Trainee rank. But that discussion belong in another thread.

Ulduar replies

@vin: thanks for hosting the successful run.

@tullip: get an ethernet cable ;)

@mug: naxx has been our most successful raid in WLK. We have proven capable of clearing it in a single evening and still have several members who are would like to see all of it. There are plenty of other times available to add an ulduar run. As pure points out, we could some progress in ulduar, but only a few guildies are capable of making a meaningful contribution to these runs atm.

@pure: combat log or it didn't happen :p

@pon: there will be plenty of other opportunities for you to get us killed, rest assured.
